Diploma in School Librarianship – NILIS – 2023
The NILIS is pleased to announce that applications are now open for Diploma in School Librarianship – 2023.
According to the educational reforms introduced in 1998, the school library, the audiovisual unit, and the Computer Lab of the school were combined and re-named the School Library and Learning Resource Centre (SLLRC).
Accordingly, the role of the School / Teacher Librarian has become teaching information skills, supporting teaching and facilitating independent learning of the students etc. This, it is expected to improve the quality of the resource-based teaching and learning processes. The Diploma in School Librarianship aims to provide the appropriate knowledge, attitude and skills required to fulfil the new roles and to produce a group of professionals who can shoulder these new transformations.
Target Group
Those who already work in school libraries and those who would like to join a school library
Entry Requirements
Passing GCE (A / L) Old Syllabus: Passing 03 subjects. New Syllabus: Passing 03 main subjects.
OR
Passing GCE (O/L) and the Certificate in School Librarianship (CSL) /Advanced Certificate in School Librarianship (ACSL) or Advanced Certificate in Librarianship (ACL) awarded by the National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS).
completion of DSL will enable one to continue to Higher Diploma in Library and Information Management (SLQF Level 4) conducted
by NILIS.
Mode of Study:
All classes will be conducted only in online mode until further notice
Evaluation Criteria:
By way of classroom assignments, end-of-semester written exams and a project report, students’
performance will be evaluated.
Course Fees:
Total Course fee is Rs.27900/= which can be paid in Full or in Two installments.
Installment Amount Due Date
First Installment Rs.16,150 Before registering to the Course.
Second Installment Rs.11,750 Before sitting the First Semester Examination
Applications close on: 15th March 2023
Commencement of the Program: June 2023
