BTech (Hons) in Engineering – OUSL – 2022/2023

The Faculty of Engineering Technology calls for applications for the Bachelor of Technology Honours in Engineering, Bachelor of Industrial Studies Honours, Bachelor of Software Engineering Honours degree programmes and Postgraduate Degree programmes for the academic year 2022/2023. These programmes are designed to contribute toward enhancing the educational standards of the general public by providing opportunities for higher education.

These programmes are conducted through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of delivery. This way of learning is different from the conventional study system. Student learning is facilitated through carefully prepared printed course material intended for self-learning. Printed course materials are supplemented with audio, visual and online learning material.

Although the minimum duration of the degree programmes is four years, the duration depends on the number of courses registered for by a student. The Faculty grants exemptions for those who have post-secondary qualifications such as diplomas, and they can enrol in the degree programmes at higher levels.

Admission:

Bachelor of Technology Honours in Engineering (areas of specialisation: Civil, Electrical, Electronic and Communication, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Textile Technology); Passes in the subjects, Combined Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination, Sri Lanka, in one sitting

Completed foundation courses equivalent to the subjects listed in FET Student Guidebook offered by OUSL

An equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the University

Those who possess higher qualifications (in addition to entry qualifications at the lowest level) such as NDT, HNDE and NDES may enter at higher levels, depending on the exemptions granted

Postgraduate Programmes (without a selection/grading test) – Rs. 1,000/-
Postgraduate Programmes (with a selection/grading test) – Rs. 1,500/-

Tuition fees:

Level 3 and 4 – 1350/= LKR per credit
Level 5 and 6 – 2100/= LKR per credit

Application Fee: Rs. 350/= LKR(Betech) , Rs.600/= LKR(BSE)
